In 1812 the Gas Light and Coke Company is incorporated.

For more than a century the company buys numerous gas companies and grows to be Greater London’s primary gas supplier. Under the Gas Act 1948, Gas Light and Coke Company’s ownership is transferred to North Thames Gas Board, a government company.

In 1973 these gas boards merge to become British Gas Corporation. In 1986 private investors purchases the company.

In 2001 OneTel, a telecoms operator from the United Kingdom, is purchased.
